Membership & Permissions Update
Hey ArkNet! After the recent extended outage, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking (and over the past few months). Running ArkNet has always been a passion project, but without additional support, the long-term sustainability of the network has had me worried. To keep things stable (and to prevent outages like that from happening again), I’m rolling out a few changes to how access works.
What’s changing
Auto-provisioning is live: Discord roles and ArkNet accounts now sync automatically through Ko-fi memberships & Donations.
Old manual permissions removed: Legacy roles have been reset for fairness and consistency. All current users who aren’t active Ko-fi members have been reverted to Regular User as of today. (Current Premium members keep their permissions.)
Jellyfin now requires Premium: Because Jellyfin is our highest ongoing cost, it now requires Bronze or Silver membership. (the guest account will continue to work but only allows 1 session at a time)
Grace & expiry: Premium roles will carry an expiration tied to Ko-fi. If a renewal lapses, there’s a 7-day grace period, then your role downgrades to Regular User. Accounts are not deleted—only downgraded.
One-time donations → time credit (Bronze)
Applied from the payment date (no stacking across separate one-time donations).
Examples:
- $7 → 30 days
- $10 → 42 days
- $20 → 85 days
- $35 → 150 days
When time credit ends, you’ll return to Regular User.
Quick actions
- Upgrade/renew on Ko-fi: (Donate!)[https://ko-fi.com/arknetmedia]
- If your role or access looks off, post in #support or ping @Mods.,
Thank you for understanding—and for helping keep ArkNet sustainable while we grow. Your support genuinely makes all this possible.

FAQ
Q: I just got downgraded—what happened?
A: We’ve moved to automatic Ko-fi-based roles and reset legacy permissions. If you’re not an active Ko-fi subscriber, your role is Regular User and can only access free-tier .
Q: Which services need Premium?
A: Jellyfin, Calibre-web, Romm, Funkwhale (coming soon) and more requires Bronze or Silver. Most other services remain available to Regular Users.
Q: Do one-time donations stack?
A: No—time credits only extend from the date of the last payment. For example if you make a $7 donation on Nov. 1 and a $7 donation on Nov. 2 you won't receive 60 days of credits. Your expiration will be 30 days from your Nov. 2 donation.
Q: Will my account be deleted if I lapse?
A: No. After the 7-day grace period, you’ll just revert to Regular User.
